Freeze branding is the process of using a super cold branding iron to kill the color pigment producing cells. The result is that white or colorless hair instead of colored hair, grows at the brand site. Freeze branding is effective on cattle, horses and dogs. One advantage of freeze branding is that it produces a readable brand at any time of the year. The brand will either be visible by white hairs or will be bald such as a hot iron would make. I personally feel this method of branding is much easier on the livestock than using a hot iron, as with this process, the skin is not even broken so there is no wound to heal, no chance of scarring muscle tissue. There is no chance of infection and horses can be used immediately after the branding is done as there is no soreness. I strongly urge anyone who has livestock to brand their animals as a step in theft prevention. I offer reasonable rates to make it affordable for everyone.
